Reina recycles in Tokyo

Recycling is not just for plastic. Even small pieces of paper count too

Hi Reina, welcome to GTT, can you tell us about yourself?

Hello! I’m Reina, a teenager who cares about the environment.

What I do to make a change is very small, but basic. One example is that I think very carefully when I throw things away. “Can I not use it anymore?” If I can’t, “Can I recycle it?”

Recycling is not just for plastic. Even small pieces of paper count too. I try not to crumble used paper and throw it in the trash can, but to recycle it. I also ask my family to do the same.

What I do everyday is small, but simple. I believe that we do not have to do great things immediately. The most important is to care and to be happy to make changes. I hope you will be too.

Are there recycling initiatives where you live?

The apartment I live is tackling the recycling problem and engages the residents to sort garbage into many groups so that it is easier to recycle.

Also in your school?

Yes, also in my junior high school that I just graduated, I was in the environmental committee and encouraged the students to sort recycleable paper with the other.
