Purple Community Fund
Fundraising with the Purple Community Fund to keep education alive for children whose families live without electricity, running water or a classroom to go to.
Since 2020, GTT has worked on a number of fundraising projects to support access to education for the children helped by the Purple Community Fund (PCF).
When the pandemic hit, many of these children were unable to attend school — and unlike most of us, they could not simply switch to learning online, because their families had no access to phones or tablets. School, and everything that comes with it, simply stopped. GTT fundraised to contribute to the provision of second-hand mobiles and tablets, helping to reconnect children with their education.
We also helped fund a micro well-being project called ‘Kids Out of School’, promoting physical and mental well-being activities and life skills through a series of printed booklets that PCF delivered directly to the children — learning and encouragement they could hold in their hands, no screen required.
We all remember how difficult the lockdown periods were. Now imagine going through them confined to a cramped, makeshift home built from cardboard, tin and plastic, without running water, electricity or toilets. That is the reality for the families PCF supports, and it is why this project means so much to us. Education is one of the most powerful routes out of poverty, and every phone, tablet and booklet helped keep that route open.
